AMCI Feature Highlights

The AMCI is an original commodity index designed by ASTMAX Co., Ltd. (currently, Astmax Asset Management, Inc.) to provide investors with a reliable and truly investable commodity benchmark for investment performance in the commodity futures market.

  • It is a Japanese Yen denominated commodity index reflecting the performance of commodity futures including primarily precious metals and energies listed in the Tokyo Commodity Exchange (TOCOM).
  • The explicit criterion for liquidity is one of weighting factors which accommodate substantial investment money.
  • The AMCI is designed to provide:
    • True investability
    • Transparency
    • Sensitivity to the underlying commodities

Current Components & Weighting

Gold (30.0%), Silver (1.0%), Platinum (23.0%), Palladium (1.0%),
Crude Oil (26.0%), Gasoline (12.0%), Kerosene (4.0%) and Rubber (3.0%)

  • The AMCI is announced at approximately 5:00 pm (Japanese time) and is available on website (http://www.astmaxim.com/amci/amci.php) on a daily basis.
  • In principle, the AMCI is re-weighted once a year from the standpoint of high-liquidity, true investability, sensitivity to the underlying commodity market. The exceptions to the foregoing are the cases when Astmax Investment Management, Inc. makes decisions to review the weighting due to; (i) the pressing matter; (ii) significant changes of the carrying cost of respective commodity; (iii) dramatic changes of liquidity; and, (iv) new listing and de-listing of commodities.
